At Heritage Volkswagen Catonsville, we won't just help you find new Volkswagen tires when you need them. We also offer services that help extend the life of all four tires, and we'll answer any questions that you have about buying a new set or caring for your current ones.

Here are some examples of questions we hear often.

What do I do When the Tire Pressure Light Comes On?

Your tire pressure monitoring system does just what its name says, so if the light turns on that means that one or more of your tires isn't properly inflated. This can result in excess wear on your tires, a flat, or even an accident, so pull over as soon as you can and figure out what the issue is, filling your tires with air if needed.

When do I Need to Replace my Tires?

When the tread depth is too shallow, it's time for new tires. Place a penny in the tread of one tire upside-down. If you can see Honest Abe's entire head, that tread is dangerously shallow and finding new tires should be a priority.

Should I Service my Tires for the Winter?

Getting your tires serviced before winter is a good idea. This gives our mechanics a chance to spot damage, uneven wear, and other issues before the weather gets rough and the roads get slippery.

Why Does my Tire Pressure go Down in Winter?

It's the outside temperature. The cold causes tire pressure to drop, while the hot summer temperatures can cause pressure to rise. It's a good idea to check your tire pressure occasionally to make sure that there hasn't been a significant drop.

Why are Tire Rotations Important?

Tire rotations are often done at the same time as your oil change, so they are a rather frequent occurrence. The “rotation” means that we take the tires off of your car and put them back on in different locations. This helps them last longer by ensuring more even wear and tear for all four.

Is it Easy to See When my Tires Aren't Properly Inflated?

No, it's hard to eyeball the proper tire pressure. Keep a tire pressure gauge handy instead.
