Many drivers may be familiar with the Volkswagen Atlas, a three-row SUV, but few have yet to experience the two-row sporty variant, the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Here at Heritage Volkswagen Catonsville, we’re thrilled to help our customers learn more about this impressive SUV as we await its arrival in our showroom.

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

Chances are, you may already be familiar with the existing Volkswagen Atlas, a three-row, full-size SUV. The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is a smaller version, measuring in at 2.8 inches shorter and 2.3 inches lower to the ground. The VW Atlas Cross Sport tosses out the third row, but still shows up with its grand offering of 77.8 cubic feet of total cargo space with the rear seat folded flat.

This new Volkswagen is equipped with the same engine variants as its larger counterpart: a 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-4 and a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. This much engine power coupled with the smaller weight of the VW Atlas Cross Sport is bound to result in some seriously nimble driving. Not to mention, this also means the VW Atlas Cross Sport can support a maximum 5,000-lb towing capacity when properly equipped.

For the most part, the range of features found in the Volkswagen Atlas is found in the sportier iteration. This includes a full suite of active safety features as standard, along with the option to add a 12-speaker audio system designed by Fender and a wireless phone charger. To boot, the VW Atlas Cross Sport boasts an optional panoramic sunroof that is nearly five feet long!
