At Heritage Volkswagen Catonsville, we have a lot of terms for the vehicles at our dealership -- they're treasures, they're winners, and now one of them is even an official "All-Star." That's because the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R has earned the title of "2016 All-Star" from Automobile magazine. The vehicle, which earned the title for the first time this year, was recognized for its practicality, value, performance, and spunky personality in particular.

Automobile chooses "All-Star" vehicles from the full list of completely new, heavily revised, or significantly unique vehicle variants that are currently available in the U.S. in the 12 months leading up to the magazine's fall test. Editorial staff and contributors to the magazine submit private ballots recommending their favorite vehicles, and winners are determined based entirely on staff selection. Ultimately, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R was one of seven recognized vehicles in the 2016 model year.

Our Baltimore, MD Volkswagen dealership has no trouble understanding why the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R stood out to the magazine's staff. More powerful than ever before, the 2016 model year vehicle is spacious and comfortable for passengers and cargo alike. Powering the vehicle is a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine built to deliver 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Infotainment and driver assistance features have also seen a massive upgrade to include Car-Net® App-Connect technology as well as an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, and much more. Together, these features helped the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R earn a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Safety Administration.

Automobile is an automotive lifestyle print and online publication that recognizes deserving vehicles each year for their class, importance, style, and desirability.
