Every day is a fantastic day to be a Volkswagen dealer in Baltimore, MD, but it’s especially rewarding today because we get to tell you that the 2017 VW Jetta has received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP+ rating is the highest ranking the IIHS gives each year followed by the Top Safety Pick rating.

When a car is rated as a TSP+ or TSP, it’s significant because it means the vehicle is one of the safest in its class. To earn the TSP+ rating, an automobile must earn the mark of “good” in five separate crash tests conducted by the IIHS. The car must also earn a score of “advanced” or “superior” for its frontal crash prevention technology. The vehicle must get a rating of “acceptable” or “good” for its headlights as well.

To earn the rating of TSP, a car must get a score of “good” in the following crashworthiness tests: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. The automobile has to get a mark of “advanced” or “superior” for its front crash prevention system, too.

In addition to telling you that the 2017 VW Jetta earned the TSP+ rating, we have more good news to share! The following Volkswagen vehicles received the TSP rating from the IIHS:

·        2017 Volkswagen Golf

·        2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack

·        2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen

·        2017 Volkswagen GTI

·        2017 Volkswagen Passat

Since the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety just released its initial list of vehicles that earned the Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick ratings, we can’t wait to see if more Volkswagen automobiles earn these coveted designations as the 2017 model year continues.
